CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
Office of:
JOSEPH G. CHLEBECK, Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
4842177
MEMO
DATE: March 13, 1980
TO: City Council
FROM: Larry Squires
RE: Fence Ordinance
MAYOR
Raymond Hanson
COUNCIL
Robert Deaece
Roy P. Nadeau, Jr.
Michael Fahey
Beverly Scelze
The recent problem, discussion and action taken on Mr. Stenger's
security gate fence has indicated that a change in the ordinance may
be desirable. At the time of my inspection of this gate fence, I
noted that the adjacent property to the West was partially surrounded
by a similar fence with barbs. I believe this property is owned by
Mr. Fratalone. It appears that a standard manufactured height for
this type of security fence is 6 feet. This would put the barbed
wire at just a little over 6 feet. If it was the intent of the or-
dinance to outlaw barbs, then the 7 -8 foot rule should remain. If
this was not the intent, then perhaps a 6 -8 foot rule should be used.
Offered respectfully for your consideration,
L. E. Squires
Building Inspector
LS:bj
cc: Clerk
P.S. The fence around our water tower is in conflict with our fence
code.
Joe
4t
