MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 24, 2006
RENEWAL OT
LIQUOR AND
TOBACCO
LICENSES
increases, that those increases be based on the Gross Levy increase as it is
amore accurate reflection of the City's added cost of doing business.
It was the consensus of the Council Yhat if [here is a negative Gross Levy
increase, these liquor license fees would not be decreased.
Keis stated that he had no problem with tying these liquor license fee
increases to the Gross Levy increase unless there was a significant
increase in the cost of administering liquor licenses. If so, Keis felt that
the issue should then be revisited and the cost passed on to the license
holder.
LaValle recommended that these license fees not be increased for 2006
renewals, and the policy for tying the increase to the Gross Levy begin
with 2007 renewals. Blesener suggested that given the last increase
occurred in 2004, that the new policy begin with Che 2006 renewals. This
would mean a 2.54% increase to the On-Sale Liquor License Fee of
$3,500 and a 2.54% increase to the On-Sale Wine License Fee of $500.
It was noted thaC the Public Hearing held earlier this year on these liquor
license increases was tabled. Therefore, the consensus of the Council was
to reconvene Che Pubic Hearing at the June 14'h Council meeting to
discuss the proposed increase with license holders.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2006-5-I23 -CONTINUING THE PUBLIC
HEARING ON PROPOSED LICENSE FEE INCREASES FOR ON-
SALE LIQUOR LICENSE AND ON-SALE WINE LICENSE TO THE
JUNE I4, 2006 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5).
Mr. Keis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2006-5-124 -APPROVING THE RENEWAL
OF THE FOLLOWING 2006 LIQUOR LICENSES AND TOBACCO
LICENSES AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY STAFF SUBJECT TO
FINALIZATION OF APPROPRIATE LICENSE RENEWAL
DOCUMENTS AND SUBJECT TO ANY PENDING LICENSE FEE
INCREASE FOR ON-SALE LIQUOR AND ON-SALE WINE
LICENSES:
