MINUTES <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MAY 2, 2013 <br />Sanders reported that the committee will be touring the site in May, and <br />informed the Commission that they would be welcomed to join that tour. <br />He also suggested that the site be included in the Commission's June parks <br />tour. <br />Sullivan asked if other cities have done veterans' memorials. Sanders <br />replied that they have, and that the committee has information from other <br />cities about their process. Maida asked if the City would have money to <br />budget toward the memorial. The Director indicated that that would be a <br />City Council consideration. Sanders reported that most memorials of this <br />type are funded through both fundraising and some City participation. <br />ARBOR The Director reported that due to weather considerations, the Arbor Day <br />DAY Celebration has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. <br />CELEBRATION at the Spooner Park upper shelter. <br />NADEAU The Director reported that the Nadeau Park playground equipment is <br />PARK scheduled to be delivered on or about May 17 "'. Installation may start that <br />PLAY day or the following Monday. The Director reported that City crews will <br />EQUIPMENT begin to clear the site in preparation for the new equipment early in the <br />UPGRADE week. <br />Heikke asked about a grand opening event once the equipment installation <br />is completed. The Director reported that he will work on planning such an <br />event and will provide information to the Commission. <br />FIRE BARNS The Director reported that the Council awarded the quote for architectural <br />WARMING and construction management services for the fire barns warming house <br />HOUSE project to RVK Architects. RVK has begun working on the architectural <br />PROJECT plans for the warming house. The hope is to have the project completed <br />by the end of summer. <br />PROGRAM The Director reported that registration has begun for Archery Lessons and <br />OFFERINGS Firearm Safety Class. Flyers were distributed to schools. <br />MARKET The next Market Place Morning Talk program will be held at 9:30 a.m. <br />PLACE on Wednesday, May 8t. The topic is "Learn How To Identify Reliable <br />MORNING Online Health Information and Get Answers to Your Questions About <br />TALKS Related privacy and Security Issues ". <br />3 <br />
