MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 24, 2013
Next reviewed was "Seek Assisted Living Project ". The Administrator
reported that the Tony's Hair Salon recently sold, therefore, that site along
with the Winter's property may no longer be a viable redevelopment site
for an assisted living project. The Administrator also indicated that he
believes the City needs to know by the end of July whether or not
Presbyterian Homes is interested in a redevelopment site on Little Canada
Road. Blesener stated that he had heard that Presbyterian Homes had been
interested in the former Norm's property along with the two houses to the
west, but now that the Watershed purchased a portion of the property, the
area was not large enough. The Administrator indicated that Presbyterian
Homes indicated their need for a 5 to 10 acre site, and the former Norm's
site along with the two houses to the west never met that size criteria. The
Administrator also indicated that there may be funding available for an
assisted living project under Livable Communities. The Administrator
stated that he would see if the City could rejoin that program.
"Complete Pedestrian /Bike Trail System" was reviewed. The
Administrator noted that the Parks & Recreation Commission has
prioritized potential trail projects. The Council noted that this goal was
on- going, and the Council suggested that on- going goals of this nature
should be categorized as such.
"Continue to Find a Hotel /Motel Project for Little Canada" was
discussed with the Council noting that progress on this goal will not move
forward until the site is available. Council recommended this goal be
shifted to another category.
Next reviewed was "Focus on Redevelopment" with discussing focusing
on the Little Canada Road strip malls and the ownership's current
mortgage situation.
"Purchase Remaining Round Lake Properties" was reviewed with the
City Administrator indicating that he would contact the owners of the
remaining properties abutting Little Canada Road and Round Lake.
The Administrator reviewed "Complete Country Drive
Redevelopment" and indicated that he had sent a letter to the
Ketchmark's to determine if they would be interested in a voluntary sale
of their property or an option agreement.
"Evaluate Spot -Zoned Properties" was reviewed with Blesener
suggesting that the Bally's property be added to the List. The
Administrator reported that any Conditional Use Permits that were active
on the former Norm's property have not expired.
4
