MINUTES
City Council
. Feb. 11, 1987
Minutes
(Cont.)
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, LaValle, Collova, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 47.
Imp. No. The Mayor reported that the Woodlyn Avenue businesses would like
87 -1 to request a special meeting with the Council to discuss Improvement
No. 87 -1.
Agenda
Item No. 4 Fahey referred to the Engineer's memo dated February 5, 1987
outlining the results of his meeting with these businesses.
Issues identified are the business owners' desire to expand;
concern over Appendix E; and concern with the future development
of the Gervais property.
Fahey also pointed out that there has been no contact from Cellular
One, and it appears that their development proposal has been
withdrawn.
Fahey felt that the Council's position was that the road should be
improved to at least the edge of the Deeb property, and that the
business owners in this area will have to comply with the City's
ordinance regarding sprinklering.
Mr. Bob Zilge, property owner in the area, reported that he would
like to add 800 square feet to his building, however, has checked
into sprinklering and found that Haylon systems are.designed for
computer rooms and offices and not industrial use. Also, to install
a supply tank would cost approximately $20,000. Zilge stated that
the lack of water to the area is a problem. Zilge requested that
he be allowed to add on and once water is available, he will
sprinkler his building.
Fahey pointed out that the City cannot abandon the ordinance that
the rest of the City has had to comply with. Fahey felt that any
building additions in the Woodlyn Avenue area would have to
comply with City ordinances. Fahey felt that sanitary sewer and
storm sewer improvements could be delayed, however, the road and
water system needed to be improved.
Greg Deeb, property owner in the area, questioned why the City
adopted Appendix E when not all cities have done so.
Fahey stated that the Council felt it was a good ordinance, and
because of the ordinance a lot of buildings in the City have been
sprinklered. This ordinance will also save the City money, in that
an additional Fire Department will not have to be added on the
other side of the City.
page -6-
