Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Mr. Chlebeck:
Ramsey County would like to solicit your city's or township's interest
in applying for county funds to establish a curbside recycling program
in your jurisdiction.
Ramsey County has assessed a $2.24 fee on all single family dwellings
and $1.45 on all apartments in the county to finance the Ramsey County
Recycling Grant Program. The $343,600 that will be collected by
Ramsey County plus Metropolitan Council landfill abatement funds for
cities and townships will be enough to cover monthly recycling
collection services and some public education and administrative costs
for approximately 75 percent of the households in the county for one
year.
The Environmental Health Division of the Ramsey County Public Health
Department is administering the grant program and has established the
enclosed guidelines and time table. The time table suggests
submitting an application to the County by March 4, 1987. Also
enclosed is a model request for proposal and bid for curbside
recycling services. We suggest you use this document or something
similar to obtain proposals and /or bids from recycling contractors.
Also enclosed is a list of recycling contractors who may be interested
in submitting a proposal for curbside recycling in your city.
To answer questions on the grant program, staff will hold an
informational meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 1987 at 1:00 p.m. at
the Fairview Community Center, 1910 West County Road 13, Roseville,
Minnesota, Room 203. Attendance is not mandatory.
The Ramsey County Solid Waste Master Plan. has established source
separation goals for each city. We believe this grant program will
greatly assist cities and townships to begin progressing towards these
goals.
We look forward to seeing you or a representative next Tuesday and /or
receiving your proposal by March 4, 1987.
Si cerely,
ea /`7b7 2
Colleen M.
