MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
JULY 17, 2006
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City
Council of LitCle Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 17Ch day of
July, 2006 in the Conference Room of Che City Center located at 515 LitCle
Canada Road in said City.
Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. and the
following members of the City Council were present at roll call:
CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener
Council Member Ms. Barb Allan
Council Member Mr. John Keis
Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle
Council Member Mr. Rick Montour
ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson
City Planner Mr. SCeve Grittman
Planning Comm. Mr. Tom Duray
Planning Comm. Mr. Scott Barraclough
Planning Comm. Mr. Michael McGraw
City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer
ZONING This evening's workshop is a continuation of the City's review of its
CODE Zoning Code. The City Planner began with a review of the Light
REVIEW Industrial District (I-I). In discussing outdoor storage allowed in the I-1
District, there was discussion relative to recent applications from property
owners in Ryan Industrial Park to amend CUP's for outdoor storage to
provide for a more flexible outdoor storage use. The most recent
application, which will be reviewed at the July 26°i Council meeting, is
requesting the ability to rent outdoor storage space to users that are not
occupying any building space.
The City Planner reported that Che Crty Administrator and Mr. Lee
Rossow, the applicant, have discussed this issue in detail. He reviewed
the July 3`d e-mail correspondence outlining the discussion points.
Blesener noted that if the City allows the leasing of outdoor storage space
to businesses not occupying building space, there will be no incentive to
for business owners, such as Lee Rossow, to build a larger building on his
property.
