MINUTES
Planning Commission
October 8, 1987
The Planner reported that one of his recommendations is that the
cars should not be stored outside. Regulating that the operation
would not become a commercial one is usually done on a complaint
basis. If neighbors complained, the City could enforce its nuisance
or home occupation ordinances.
Timmons asked if Fritze was required to show access to the proposed
garage.
The Planner reported that the ordinance does not require a paved or
even gravel driveway, and the applicant did not have to show an
access to the garage.
Timmons questioned the amount of asphalt on the property.
The Planner reported that the amount of asphalt is not restricted unless
a property becomes an auto parking lot for automobiles not being used.
Code does not regulate the number of driveways on a property.
Fritze reported that he would prefer the garage located alongside his
house, however, Lake Street adjacent to his property has not been
vacated.
Herkenhoff asked if Fritze would be selling the cars he restores.
Fritze replied that he would not.
Fritze indicated that he would comply with the Planner's recommendations
as contained in his report.
There was no one present wishing to address this issue.
Timmons stated that she would prefer to see the garage located adjacent
to the house.
The Planner noted that in that instance a sideyard setback would be
required, which he could not recommend in favor of.
Mr. Davison recommended approval of the conditional use permit requested
by Warren Fritze, 2573 Spruce Street, for construction of a second
garage subject to the recommendations of the City Planner as contained
in his report.
Motion seconded by Perlinger.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
Rear Yard Mr. Anderson, 3020 Rice Street, appeared before the Commission requesting
Setback approval of a rear yard setback variance in order to construct a garage
Variance at the rear of the trailer court property adjacent to the railroad
3020 Rice property.
Page 3
