The area where the proposed pick -up station
would be is now a grass area. There was discussion as to
the problems with the traffic-on Rice St. with increase id
number of cars exiting unto Rice St. Mr. Adams stated that
the plan is that the cars will be encouraged to exit unto
Minnesota St. There was discussion on the amt. of room for
cars to wait to place their orders and that if there was a
backup of cars at this point, that they would interfere
with cars wanting to exit unto Minnesota Street from the
parking area.
Brad Nielsen, Northwest Consultants, suggested that the
canopy over the Pick -Up station should be two feet less
than proposed so that a variance would not be needed
by being to close to Minnesota St.
Dennis Forsberg stated that while he felt the addition of
a Drive -Up area was a good concept, and would add a great
convenience to the restaurant, he still felt there would
be problems with traffic backing up behind the order placing
area. Other Commission members voiced the same concerns.
Brad Nielsen suggested that if the exits £romjpick- up-area are geared t,'
go to the left (instead of to the right which would allow.n7
exit unto Rice St.) it would force cars to exit unto Minnesota St.
Mr. Adams stated that he would have changes made on the
plan which included having:lanes striped on the pavement
making one lane for the pick up area cars and one lane
for the cars wishing to exit unto Minnesota St. and also
show curbing near exit area from pick up window which
would not allow exiting unto Rice St.
Motion made by Frank Winiecki to approve plans subject to traffic
on south of bldg. becoming one way (enter off Rice
and exit unto Minnesota St.), "No Exit Unto Rice St." signs
posted, and canopy on north side of bldg. to comply
with 40' set back requirements from Minnesota St.
Seconded by Gene DeLonais
Discussion: plan will be modified as discussed prior to submitting_
to City Council
Motion carried: 6-0
J
