MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
Pursuant to due call and notice Chereof a workshop meeting of the City
Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 14th day of
June, 2006 in the Conference Room of the City Center located at 5] 5
Little Canada Road in said City.
JUNE 14, 2006
Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the
following members of the City Council were present at roll call:
CITY COUNCIL:
Mayor
Council Member
Council Member
Council Member
Council Member
Mr. Bill Blesener
Ms. Barb Allan
Mr. John Keis
Mr. Jim LaValle
Mr. Rick Montour
ALSO PRESENT:
City Administrator
Resident Mr. Cam Oyen
City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer
Mr. Joel R. Hanson
Sheriff s Department Lt. John St. Germain
Provinces Mr. Mike Cunningham
MULTI- Mayor Blesener indicated that the purpose of tonight's meeting is to
FAMILY review Che police activity at a number of the City's multi-family
HOUSING housing complexes and Co develop a plan for addressing this continuing
ISSUES problem. Blesener noted that a large percentage of the City's Budget goes
toward police protection, and those costs are based to a certain degree on
call activity. Blesener noted that other cities have addressed this same
issue by enacting licensing requirements and regulations as well as
housing codes.
The City Administrator reviewed a summary of the serious calls at the
City's multi-family complexes that have more than four units. He noted
that the highest call activity is occurring at Antler, Montreal Com•ts,
Quebec, Provinces, and Sleepy Hollow. The Administrator indicated that
one of the factors that has been an issue is the instability with the
management at some of these complexes. He reported that just when the
City and management are able to start addressing the issues of concern,
the manager leaves and the City has to start over with a new on-site
manager.
