MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 14, 2006
Blesener asked when construction will begin. The City Engineer indicated
that there are a few engineering details to be worked out, buC construction
should begin in a week or two.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO.2006-6-138 -APPROVING THE EVERGREEN
HILLS DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT AS RECOMMENDED BY
THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (5).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
REALIGNMENT The City Administrator reviewed his memo dated June 10, 2006 relative
OZ' VIKING to the potential to realign Viking Drive near the Rice Street/Highway 36
DRIVE interchange. The Administrator stated that from a Craffic management
standpoint it would be ideal to eliminate Viking Drive's connection to
Rice Street and reroute it to Minnesota Avenue.
In working to realign Viking Drive, there are several properties that would
be involved. These include McDonalds, Oasis Market, and two residential
homes on Viking Drive.
The Administrator further reported that McDonald's is interested in
tearing down their existing restaurant and reconstructing a new restaurant
on their property. Given the L-shape of the McDonald's property, it is a
somewhat difficult to property to work with.
To facilitate the McDonald's redevelopment as well as the realignment,
the Administrator noted that there is some excess Rice Street right-of-way
thaC could be vacated and combined with Che McDonald's property, if
McDonald's is willing to on the Viking Drive realignment. The owners of
Oasis Market have expressed a willingness to sell, and their asking price is
close to Che County's market value. Oasis would like to close on a sale by
the end of July. All or a portion of this property could be incorporated
into the McDonald's redevelopment. The Administrator further noted that
the two residential homes on Viking Drive are currently for sale.
LaValle asked if McDonald's would be willing to buy the Oasis property.
The City Administrator did not think McDonald's would buy the Oasis
