[2071.01] [PRESIDE;TIAL PRIMARY,] <br />9 There shall be held, on the first Tuesday in April of each <br />'^ year in which a president and vice president of the United <br />States are to be nominated and elected, a presidential primary, <br />12 at which the voters of this state may express their preference <br />13 among the candidates of the major political party of their <br />14 choice, for that party's nomination to be president of the <br />15 United States. For the purposes of sections 1 to 7, "political <br />16 party" or "party" means a political party as that term is <br />17 defined in Minnesota Statutes, Section 200.02, Subdivision 7. <br />18 Sec. 2. (2071.02] [CANDIDATES ON THE BALLOT.] <br />19 Subdivision 1. The 'following individuals shall be listed <br />20 as candidates on the appropriate party ticket of the <br />::1 presidential primary ballot: <br />42 (a) Anv individual who has announced his candidacy for the <br />23 nomination of his party to be oresident of the United Staten, <br />24 excent an individual who has announced himself only as a "native <br />:Si son" candidate or an individual who, in the unanimous opinion of <br />28 the executive council, clearly is not a'serious contender for <br />28 <br />
