• Mr. Edward C. Anderson
' /Page two
November 29, 1982
•
No. 3 Cont.
The roadway elevation has been raised by approximately two inches and
the road has been widened, but this does not appreciably change the
amount of water. The little additional water is contained within the
ditch on our right of way.
CONCERN NO. 4: "A PROPOSED PONDING, LYING NORTH OF MY PROPERTY, IS
WITHOUT ADEQUATE EGRESS AND WILL FLCOD A LARGE PORTION
OF MY PROPERTY, THEREBY RENDERING I': UNUSABLE FOR
DEVELOPMENT."
There is 1.20 acres of highway right of way draining into the pond after
construction on this project. Before construction on this project, 1.11
acres of highway right of way drained into the pond. The total drainage
area contributing to the water in the pond is 13.50 acres. The addition
of 0.09 acre, that previously drained to Demont Avenue, will cause no
significant change in the pond water elevation.
CONCERN NO. 5: "THE REMOVAL OF LARGE FEEDER ROOTS FROM A MASSIVE TREE
(102" DIAMETER) ADJACENT TO MY HOME COULD CAUSE THE TREE
TO FALL ONTO MY HOUSE DURING A WINDSTORM."
This matter has been referred to Milner W. Carley and Associates, as the
engineering consultant for the City of Little Canada. If the roots of the
tree were damaged it would have been the result of the watermain in-
stallation, not our shallow storm culvert. Carley and Associates will
contact you at a future date.
CONCERN NO. 6: "DUE TO THE ROADWAY ELEVATION, ENTEROG AND EGRESSING MY
YARD IS VERY HAZARDOUS AND WILL BECG1E MORE SEVERE DURING
THE WINTER MONTHS."
Since the date of your letter, additional sand fill and limestone gravel
was added to your driveway. This work has now flattened the slope of the
driveway to a 9.2% slope instead of the 11% slope shown on the plans.
This slope is well within the design standards for entrances.
If you feel that your property has been damaged by steepening your
driveway from its original slope of 6.5 %, you might want to bring this
matter to the attention of the court appointed Commissioners.
CONCERN NO. 7: "DUE TO DRIVEWAY ELEVATION, CUSTOMERS ARE HESITANT TO
ENTER MY YARD AND BUSINESS HAS DECREASED SUBSTANTIALLY."
Again here you can bring this matter to the attention of the court
appointed Commissioners.
Sincerely,
Kermit K. McRae, P.E.
District Engineer
9
