Mayor Blesener noted that the City adopted
a 2007 Preliminary Budget in September that set a maximum levy increase
of 4%. However, it is the City Council's goal to reduce that increase for
the final 2007 Budget.
The Finance Director indicated that since Che last budget workshop, City
staff has continued Co look for ways to lower the levy. The Director
reviewed in detail her report dated November 3, 2006 outlining several
suggested changes and the resulting budget impact. Proposed General
Fund changes are as follows:
The initial budget anticipated the addition of the Housing Inspector
position for January 1, 2007. Given time that will be required to
coordinate this process between the City, the Sheriff and the various
Multi-family housing parties, a more realistic kick off to this program
would be July 1, 2007. Therefore Protective Inspections cost and
administrative costs have been reduced by $9,888 Co reflect the later start
date.
Impact = $9,888
