NexC reviewed was the Park Land Acquisition Fund, with the Director noting that the City's policy has been to acquire future park properties as they become available. Water/Sewer Capital Replacement Fund was reviewed next. It was noted that this fund reflects the potential sale of the Public Works Garage site in 2008, and acquisition of a new site in 2007. The Administrator pointed out that the Park Street site that the City had considered for a future Public Works Garage site is no longer viable given the wetland impact to this site. This Fund would also pay for the inspection and any needed repairs to the City's water tower. The Director briefly reviewed both the Water Fund and the Sewer Fund and reported that rate recommendations will be made in early 2007. While there may be an increase in water rates, it is not anticipated that sewer rates will increase given reduced Met Council treatment charges incurred by Little Canada. The Director anticipated that the reduced costs may be a combination of the dry year as well as the City's Inflow and Infiltration control efforts. In summary, the Mayor noted that the Council's consensus was that the 2007 Budget decreases identified thus far should be increased from $18,000 to $30,000 so that the gross levy increase for 2007 is under 3%.
