Building Official. The appointing authority may appoint as many deputy inspectors as shall be required to carry out the functions of the Building Department, and it may remove such deputies at its pleasure. 302.030. ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR. The governing body may appoint an Electrical Inspector. 302.040. QUALIFICATIONS. Any person appointed to the position of electrical inspector shall be a competent electrician who shall have had at least two years experience as a journeyman in the practice of his trade or two years training in a recognized college of electrical engineering, shall be well versed in approved methods of electrical construction for safety of life and property, the statutes of the State of Minnesota relating to electrical work, the rules and regulations issued by the Industrial Commission of Minnesota, and the Railroad and Warehouse Commission of Minnesota under authority of the statutes, the National Electrical Code, as approved by the American Engineering Standards Committee and the National Electrical Safety Code, as approved by the American Engineering Standards Committee. 302.050. CONFLICT OF INTEREST. The Electrical Inspector shall not engage in the business of the installation and the maintenance of electric wiring, electric devices and electrical material either directly or indirectly in the municipality and he shall have no financial interest in any concern engaged in such business in the municipality. 302.060. DUTIES. The Electrical Inspector shall make a thorough inspection of the installation in buildings of all electric wiring, electric devices and electric materials now installed, or that may hereafter be installed, within this municipality and when the installation of any such wiring, devices or material is found to be in a dangerous or unsafe condition he shall notify the person, firm or corporation owning, using, operating or installing the same in writing to place the installation of such wiring, devices and material in a safe condition and he shall immediately place a notice in a conspicuous place upon such dangerous or unsafe wiring, devices and material stating that said wiring, devices or material is unsafe and shall not be used until it is put in a safe condition and therefore it shall be unlawful to use said wiring, devices, and material until it has been placed in a safe condition and has been inspected and approved by said Inspector. 302.070. PLUMBING INSPECTOR. The governing body may appoint a Plumbing Inspector. 302.080. QUALIFICATIONS. The person appointed to the position of Plumbing Inspector shall be a competent plumber who shall have had at least two years experience as a journeyman or master plumber in the practice of his trade. He shall be well versed in approved methods of plumbing construction, the statutes of the State of Minnesota relating to plumbing work and the Minnesota Plumbing Code as adopted by the Minnesota State Board of Health as amended. 23
