VII ADVISORY COMMENTS ON LOCAL PARK SYSTEM <br />R075P3 <br />The city's parks plan contains a good inventory of the city's public and <br />private recreation areas but does not contain any analysis for <br />determining the adequacy of the system. No analysis was done because the <br />plan states there are "no standards" available to determine adequacy. <br />However, the plan does contain excerpts from the Metropolitan Council's <br />park classification system which in its entirety contains population <br />and service area radius standards for park systems (pp. 103 and 104). <br />By applying these standards it appears that the city does have adequate <br />park land for its residents with the exception of the northern <br />neighborhood. The plan recognizes this and proposes appropriate <br />acquisition and development of parks when the area is developed. <br />- 14 - <br />
