NORTHWEST ASSOCIATED CONSULTANTS INC.
MEMORANDUM
TO: Little Canada City Council
Little Canada Planning Commission
FROM: Alan Brixius
DATE: January 18, 1982
RE: Little Canada Comprehensive Plan
FILE NO: 758.03
In the final Metropolitan Council staff review of the Little Canada Comprehensive Plan,
the Plan was found to be generally consistent with metro systems. The Metropolitan
Council has approved the Little Canada Plan contingent on the City making the following
recommended revisions and additions.
The following pages contain the Metropolitan Council recommended revisions, followed
by a response to the proposed revisions.
METROPOLITAN COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION
After Little Canada adopts the plan, it should submit the comprehensive sewe- policy
plan portion of the comprehensive plan to the MWCC for its formal approval. The plan
should address the additional comments raised by the MWCC in its letter.
RESPONSE
Upon approval of the Little Canada Plan by the Metropolitan Council, the City has nine
months to complete an update of its Comprehensive Sewer Plan. While the City has a nine
month period prior to submitting the CSP, we recommend that the City direct the Engineer
to begin work on this plan as soon as possible. This will avoid any conflicts that may result
from future development impacting the metropolitan sewer systems that are not addressed
in the current Sewer Plan. The Comprehensive Sewer Plan would reflect the projections and
conclusions of the Little Canada Comprehensive Plan and include the comments and recom-
mendations made in a letter from the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission dated March
5, 1981. These comments are listed below.
The plan indicates that the City should consider adopting WPC -40 for technical
standards for maintenance and upgrading existing on -site systems. Adoption of the
standards to be used should be indicated in the City's comprehensive sewer plan.
4820 minnetonka boulevard, suite420 minneapolis, mn 55416 612/925 -9420
