MINUTES
Planning Commission
Dec. 1, 1983
General
Comments
(Cont.)
Adjourn
Mrs. Scalze informed the Planning Commission that the Council did
have a lot of discussion on Appendix E and pointed out that Appendix
E has been on record since March and the Council passed it in
September.
Mr. French felt that the necessity of sprinkler systems be taken
up on a case by case basis.
Mrs. Timmons suggested that the City get a couple of companies to
hid sprinklers for City buildings and then the City would get an
idea of what these systems cost.
Mrs. Timmons pointed out that the State code is very restrictive in
the licensing of day care centers and they do not require sprinkler
systems.
Mr. Vitale also felt that the Council should decide sprinklers on
a case by case basis. Timmons commented that with a case by case
basis, it is possible for people to argue discrimination. Timmons
felt it was better for the City to have an ordinance, but also felt
that Appendix E might be too restrictive. Timmons stated that she
liked the way Bloomington handled the matter, by passing their own
ordinance and just picking up the things they wanted from Appendix
E.
Mr. Vitale asked if the major reason for Appendix E was the multiple
dwellings going up in the City. Mrs. Scalze pointed out that the
City discussed Appendix E since March.
Mrs. Scalze felt that the State will see lobbying against Appendix E.
Mr. French recommended that the meeting he adjourned.
Motion seconded by Mr. DeLonais.
Motion carried 6 — 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Recording Secretary
Page - -7—
