MINUTES
Planning Commission
Dec. 1, 1983
Little Canada Motion seconded by Mr. Frattalone.
Day Care
(Cont.) Motion carried 6 - 0.
Planning
Commission
Terms Of
Office
General
Comments
Mr. DeLonais commented that the Planning Commission does not know
whose term of office is up in 1983.
DeLonais also reminded the Planning Commission that during 1984
the Commission meetings will be held on the second Thursday of
each month.
Mrs. Timmons stated that it was nice to get reports for the meeting
on time this month.
Mrs. Scalze informed the Commission that the Council was not aware
that people were not coming to the Planning Commission meetings when
they are on the agenda. Scalze stated that as a Councilmember she
does not like to review items until the Planning Commission has
reviewed them first.
Mr. Vitale asked if a checklist has been prepared to give to applicants.
Mrs. Scalze replied that there is a checklist, but it is not as good
for the applicant as it might be.
Mr. DeLonais commented that he feels everyone on the agenda for the
Planning Commission meeting should appear. Mrs. Timmons stated
that there are exceptions that are understandable.
Mr. Costa stated that he is concerned about Appendix E. Costa felt
that Appendix E will hurt a lot of businessmen.
Mrs. Scalze commented that the Fire Chief indicated thataAppendi.x E
could save firemen's lives. Scalze indicated that the State took
up Appendix E, however, it did not pass the Legislature. Scalze
stated that some cities have adopted Appendix E and others are
looking at it. Scalze stated that the Council assumed that the
Fire Department reviewed it.
Costa asked if the ramifications were studied before it was passed.
Scalze replied that probably not as well as they should have been.
Scalze also indicated that the small businessmen in the City are
lobbying against Appendix E. The Council also will be looking at it
again and have sent it back to the Fire Chief. The Council did not
want to rescind the Appendix quickly because of the lobbying efforts
of one evening.
Mrs. Timmons suggested that Mr. Costa bring this up to the Fire
Department.
Page -6-
