MINUTES
Planning Commission
Nov. 3, 1983
Johnson
PUD (Cont.)
Mr. Grittman replied that the uses would have to remain the same.
Mr. Costa pointed out that the Council will probably be concerned
that there is not enough room for emergency vehicles to get back
to the warehouse.
Mr. Grittman pointed out that this is the first time he has had accurate
measurements. Grittman informed the commission that he would be
reviewing the plan and will be coming back with specific recommendations.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she would vote against any approval of the
concept as the Commission did not have adequate information to
prepare for the meeting. Timmons stressed that this was not the
fault of Mr. Johnson.
Mrs. Kingsbury stated that she would vote for the concept for the
same reasons Mrs. Timmons was voting against because it was not
Mr. Johnson's fault that the commission did not receive the necessary
information.
Mr. DeLonais recommended approval of the concept of the Johnson
PUD subject to the recommendations of the Planner contained in
his report of October 27, 1983 and any other recommendations that
may be forthcoming.
Motion seconded by Mr. French.
Motion carried 5 - 1. Mrs. Timmons voting against.
Text The Planning Commission pointed out that it did not receive a copy
Amendment of the proposed text amendment which would allow a garment apparel
For Printing screen printing business in a B -3 area as a conditional use permit.
Business
Mr. Grittman informed the Commission that two gentlemen would like
to start a screen printing business on the sothwest portion of Viking
Drive east of Rice Street. This is a B -3 zone and under the ordinance
this type of business would only be allowed in a BW area. However,
it is the feeling of the Planner that this type of business is
compatible with a B -3 zone. Also, under a conditional use permit
the City would have control.
It was the feeling of the Planning Commission that this matter should
be tabled as the Commission did not receive a copy of the proposed
amendment.
Mrs. Kingsbury recommended tabling of the text amendment due to
the lack of information on the part of the Planning Commission.
Motion seconded by Mrs. Timmons.
Page -4-
