r
MINUTES
Planning Commission
Nov. 3, 1983
Text
Amendment
(Cont.)
Planning
Commission
Comments
Motion carried 6 — 0.
Mr. Vitale informed the Commission that at the last Council meeting
the Commission was criticized for not acting on items when there
was no one present representing the item.
Mr. DeLonais pointed out that there were three items on the agenda
tonight and the Commission did not receive information on any of
these items. Mr. DeLonais pointed out that the members had no
way of viewing a site without this information. DeLonais felt that
the situation is going from bad to worse.
Mr. Costa did not feel that the Commission is receiving the cooperation
of the Council and suggested that the Planning Commission be disbanded.
Costa pointed out that the members of the Commission are also busy
people and should get some consideration.
Mrs. Timmons felt that the developers coming into the Commission are
getting a bad impression and it appears that the City is not very well
organized to these developers. The Commission is portraying a bad
image. Timmons also pointed out that developers are paying permit
fees and also for Attorneys' time to attend meetings.
Timmons felt that the City views the Planning Commission as a non-
functioning organization and felt that the City should take the
Commission seriously.
Mr. Costa agreed.
Mr. DeLonais pointed out that perhaps when the Commission goes to
meeting on the second Thursday of the month it will receive reports
in a timely manner.
Mrs. Timmons felt that the city staff should receive formal notice
that the Commission is not receiving its reports. Timmons pointed
out that apparently this month there was a misunderstanding as to
who was to send out the reports.
The Planner commented that to his knowledge, Mr. Chlebeck was to
have sent the reports for this meeting.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she was in favor of meeting the second Thursday
of the month. Timmons felt this would give the Commission more time
to get its reports.
Page —5—
