employee's condition, if the absence is more than <br />three (3) days duration. <br />3. Submit a medical certificate for any absence exceeding <br />three (3) days if required by the Department Head. <br />(F) The misuse of sick leave, such as claiming sick leave when <br />physically fit, shall be grounds for immediate dismissal. <br />(G) Sick leave shall not be granted for less than one —half day. <br />(H) Sick leave credit shall not accrue to any employee during any period <br />of suspension, layoff, leave of absence or other off payroll status. <br />(I) In lieu of sick leave pay, for any absence not exceeding two (2) <br />days, an employee may elect to take leave without pay. <br />209.130. Leaves of Absence and Emergency Leave. <br />(A) After receiving a recommendation of the Department Head, the City <br />Council may approve a leave of absence of an employee without pay for a period <br />which shall not exceed ninety (90) calendar days. <br />(B) In the event an employee is unable to report for work because of <br />extreme weather conditions (e.g. winter blizzard), such employee may, upon the <br />approval of the Department Head, be granted leave without pay or vacation pay <br />for the day or days in question. Such employee may also be allowed, upon <br />approval of the Department Head, to make up the time lost at straight time <br />rate by working extra hours before or after his /her regular shift, provided <br />that all such time is made upon within the pay period in which the emergency <br />leave day or days occurred. <br />209.140. Jury and Witness Duty. <br />If an employee is called to serve as a juror or subpoenaed as a <br />court witness, the employee shall receive compensation which will equal the <br />difference between the employee's regular pay and compensation paid for jury <br />duty or witness fees. Employees are expected to report for work in the City <br />when they are released from court during regular office hours and to make <br />every effort to complete the work assigned to them during the time they are <br />serving as jurors or witnesses. <br />209.150. Military Service. <br />The provisions of Minnesota Statutes, Sections 192.26 and 192.261, <br />as amended, are hereby adopted as an ordinance pertaining to leaves of absence <br />while engaged in military service. <br />209.160.
