I invited four quotations and received two back. One was from Midwest Stump Removal, located in Anoka, and the other from Precision Landscaping, of Little Canada. Precision has been our tree contractors for the last two years. In 1982, I marked 125 trees in Little Canada. All were Elm trees, with Dutch Elm disease. This number is slightly lower than the last two years. For the past three years, the incidence of Dutch Elm disease has been declining about 10 %. The average size of trees cut down has been 20 ". Most of the trees have fallen i4nto the 10 " -26" diameter. Thus, I compared the prices between these two quotes in this range. Precision was slightly under Midwest. Precision's total in this category was $1,055.45. Midwest was $1,095.00. In their total bid, for all sizes of trees, Precision was $3,662.60, and Midwest was $5,010.00. Precision is much cheiper or trees over 30 ". Undoubtedly, there will be a few trees marked in this category, as there has been in the past years I have worked here. Based on two considerations: one', that Precision has the lower quote and two; Precision has an excellent record and are extremely competent in their business, I would like to recommend re- hiring Precision for tree removals in Little Canada for 1983.
