I ri
Feb. 28, 1983
REPORT ON ELDERLY & HANDICAPPED BUILDING.
TYPE: Wood Frame Construction - 1 hour fire resistance throughout.
HEIGHT: 3 story - 42 Units.
SQ.FT.: 32,319
VALUATION:$1,281,450.00
These figures are from the Insurance Service Office, (they underwrite the
insurance company).
Cost of insurance: $1.66 per $100 valuation if the building does not have
a sprinkler system: $21,272.00.
Cost of insurance: $.20 per $100.00 valuation if the building does have a:
sprinkler system: $2,563.00.
This is the base that the insurance company starts with, they add or sub-
tract depending on coverage.
The dost of installing sprinklers in this type of project is $.85 per sq.
ft. or $27,470.00.
A rule of thumb is that if the building has a sprinkler system, the savings
on insurance is 500. All of these figures are estimates from people in
the field, and were given to me without seeing any plans.
Submitted by,
A Li
i
Ed Locke
Building Official
EEL:gb
cc: Council
Dick Boss, Sr.
07
