CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
Office of:
JOSEPH G. CHLEBECK, Clerk
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
484 -2177
Feb. 16, 1983
Levitz Co.
1317 N.W. 167th
Miami, Fl. 33169
Attention: Hal Katzen
Conservation & Safety Dept.
Dear Mr. Katzen,
MAYOR
Raymond Hanson
COUNCI L
Michael Fahey
Beverly Scatze
Dennis Forsberg
Mugs Nardini
It has come to my attention that the automatic fire - extinguishing
system in your Little Canada store, has been giving false alarms. The
following is a list of dates and times this has occured in the last
several months: Oct. 11, 1982 - 10:58 a.m.
Dec. 29, 1982 - 12:15 p.m.
Jan. 7, 1983 - 2:20 a.m.
Jan. 23, 1983 - 4 :20 p.m.
Feb. 13, 1983 - 11:30 a.m.
The problem seems to be occuring during the winter months. Nuisance calls
such as these are expensive and create a hardship on the Fire Department.
NFPA -13, 1978; 1 -5 Maintanence states that the "owner is responsible
for the condition of his sprinkler system and shall use diligence in
keeping the system in good operating condition."
Due to the seriousness of the problem, it shall be corrected by
March 18, 1983., also, a written statement from the company checking
it, will be required.
EEL:gb
cc: Richard Boss, Fire Chief
Vicky Brough, Levitz
M. Nardini, City Council
J. Chlebeck, Clerk
R. Glanzer, Public Works
Sincerely,
/C1i'Y( /t
Edward E. Locke
Fire Marshal
15
C_Q
