MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Feb. 9, 1983 <br />1983 Sewer & Mr. Fahey suggested <br />Water General Fund. Mr. <br />Budget (Cont.) 1983 service charge <br />the General Fund. <br />that a small percentage be charged against the <br />Glanzer suggested that the increase for the <br />be taken off and this amount charged against <br />The City Clerk suggested that it could be done this year and the <br />General Fund budget amended. <br />Mrs. Nardini asked if the Council had any other problems with the <br />proposed budget. <br />Mr. Glanzer reported that he is proposing that the City install <br />capaciters on its booster stations. Glanzer reported that NSP <br />estimated that the City could have saved $700 in its electrical <br />costs in one year. Mr. Glanzer reported that he has received a <br />price of $329 per capaciter without installation. The City would <br />need two. <br />Mr. Fahey commented that he felt it was fair to the City to charge <br />a portion of the City Garage bond on the General Fund as everyone <br />in the City benefits from the City's water system through fire <br />protection. <br />Mrs. Scalze reported that if the City can get its fire rating <br />reduced from 7 to 6 it could save each homeowner about $40 per <br />year in insurance premiums. Mrs. Scalze stated that at the time <br />the new pumper is added to the Fire Department is the time to <br />work on the City's fire rating. <br />The City Clerk reported that these ratings are looked at every <br />10 years and 1983 would be the tenth year for the City. <br />Mrs. Scalze asked where the money will come from in the General <br />Fund to pay for the City Garage. The City Clerk suggested the <br />Contingency Fund. <br />Mr. Forsberg asked if the City can afford it without getting into a <br />bind.
