APAC
ALL PARK'S ALLIANCE FOR CHANGE
(AN ORGANIZATION OF MOBILE HOME RESIDENTS)
Dean Mundell
44 Little Circle Dr.
Little Canada, MN 55117
Dear Mayor Fahey,
7671 Old Central Ave. N.E.
Suite 209
Fridley, MN 55432
786 -2831
November 17, 1988
I am writing as a representative of the North Star Estates chapter
of the All Parks All.iahce for Change (APAC), an organization of Mobile
Home owners.
Our chapter has identified the availability of safe shelter during
severe weather to be of primary concern to the residents of North Star.
In order to secure this health and safety protection we have been circ-
ulating a petition among park residents which rends: "We the residents
of North Star Estates mobile home park strongly urge the construction
of a storm shelter in our park." Needless to say response has been
overwhelmingly In favor of the construction of an in park shelter.
We wrote a letter to the park owners on November 3, 1988 requesting
a meeting to discuss this matter (see attached), to date we have recieved
no response. We are still interested in working with the owners to
reach a solution which will address the health and safety needs of the
residents of North Star Estates. MN statutes section 327.20 was amended
in 1987 giving cities the power to order the construction of an in
park shelter, it is this we are now asking your city council to do.
Attached ,1s a diagram of n shelter which has been constructed in many
other mobile home parks in the metro area, it is this type of shelter
we would like to see built in North Star Estates.
We are arranging to he placed on the agenda for the December 144
1988 city council meeting to speak more about this proposal. We will
also be contacting you prior to the city council meeting to answer any.
questions you may have about this matter. We look forward to working
with you to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Little
Canada who live in North Star. Estates.
Sincerely,
Dean Mundell
Chairperson
(FORMERLY ANOKA t Page 5
ICE FOR CHANGE)
