MEMO
TO: City Council
FROM: Joseph G. Chlebeck, City Clerk
DATE: December 12, 1988
RE: Meeting with Amoco, Fran Husnik & North Star Trailer
Park concerning Amoco's Pipeline
This morning we had a meeting with Dick Peterson of Amoco
Oil and Frank Husnik of the North Star Trailer Park
concerning the encroachment of the trailers over the Amoco
Pipeline. Also present at this meeting were Roger Glanzer,
John Palacio, and Frank Graczyk.
Mr. Husnik explained to us the procedure he used for
constructing the trailer park as it relates to the
pipeline. Again he reassured us that he had someone from
Amoco, at that time Standard Oil, to stake out the location
of the pipeline and that he was to stay so many feet from
the line. In 1971 when the trailer park was constructed,
Country Drive was not in its present location (it ended in
the vicinity of the trailer park) nor was the pipeline
marked as it is today.
Mr. Peterson informed us of the method used for checking
the pipeline and how often it is inspected. He mentioned
he would also be available to be at our Council meeting on
December 14, 1988 to explain their methods of testing. He
informed me to then call their Chicago office and talk to
Bill Moore who is in charge of Right -of -Way. He is to call
him first to inform him of the problem and will inform me
as to whether he is in or not. Mr. Peterson also informed
us that the Right -of Way agent has contacted these
residents over two months ago concerning this
encroachment. This matter is not too clear as how Fran
Husnik could relate to this encroachment without a letter
from Amoco.
Page 1
