December 12, 1988
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minn. 55117
Attn: Joe Chlebeck
City Clerk
BUETOW ANO ASSOCIATES, INC.
ARCHITECTS ANO ENGINEERS
2345 RICE STREET SUITE 210
ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA 55113
TEL. 012/483-0701
Re: Little Canada Elementary School Addition
BA #8695
Dear Mr. Chlebeck:
The following is a memorandum of a 12/2/88 discussion that occurred at the City Hall
regarding the Little Canada Recreation Department's anticipated utilization of the
proposed new gymnasium and stage facilities.
1. Present were Jim Morelan, Diane Husak (Recreation Department Director and
Assistant Director, respectively) and Randy L. Engel.
2. Preliminary floor plans on which were indicated potential utilization of the new
gymnasium and stage (drawings A through D, dated 11/29/88) were presented and
left with directors Morland and Husak for additional consideration. The following
was discussed:
2.1 The gymnasium is sufficient in size to accommodate a gymnastics program
that could include a large exercise mat area, a vaulting horse, a balance
beam, an uneven bar assemby and a wall- mounted folding high bar.
2.2 The provision of two volleyball courts (one in each one -half of the
gymmnasium) is acceptable for use although they will not be of regulation
depth and height.
2.3 The stage is sufficient in size to accommodate both the uneven bars and
the high bar although they could not be operated simultaneously upon the
stage due to available space.
2.4 A storage room and storage mezzanine adjacent to the stage is adequate
for storage of the gynmastics equipment listed above (with the exception
of the large floor exercise mat) and has sufficient access and height.
2.5 Storage area beneath the stage (approximately 24" high, 72" deep and in
three 136" wide sections) with accessible doors is adequate for storage of
floor mats.
Page 3
