Fire Dept. <br />Control Of <br />Lights at <br />35E and P <br />Little <br />Canada <br />Road <br />. .INUTES 31 1i1L SfLCLW ,..Szi_L <br />CITI COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />November 28, 1979 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the <br />Council of the City of Little Canada, iihnesota was held on the <br />28th day of November, 1979 in the Council Chambers of the City <br />Center .Located at 515 Little Canada ..oad in said City. <br />Mayor Raymond Hanson chaired and called the meeting to order at <br />7:31 P.M. <br />MvrLERS PR.SENNT: Mayor <br />Councilman <br />Counci -iman <br />Councilman <br />Councilwoman <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />City Cleric <br />City Attorney <br />Consulting Engineer <br />Recording Secretary <br />hr. Raymond 'Hanson <br />1`.r. Robert DeBace <br />Mr. r^.ichael Fahey <br />Mr. Roy Nadeau, Jr. <br />Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />Mr. Joseph Chlebeck <br />ir. Clayton Parks <br />Fir. Donald Carley <br />Mrs. Kathleen Glanzer <br />Mr. Richard Boss, Sr., Little Canada Fire Chief, appeared before <br />the Council to inform then that the Fire Department has been <br />/ negotiating for the control of the lights at the intersection of <br />Little Canada Road and 353. The lights would be controlled by both <br />the Fire Department and the Sheriff's Department. By gaining <br />control of the lights in case of a fire, the Fire Department would <br />be able to cause the lights to be green for a set amount of time and <br />enable firemen and fire vehicles to pass through the intersection <br />quickly. <br />kr. Boss stated that the cost of this proposal would be 's4,500.00. <br />1'ir. 3oss also stated that Ramsey County is putting into effect the <br />911 Emergency Answering System and this proposal would not interfere <br />with the 911 System. <br />1•;r. Boss asked the Council to support the Fire Department's efforts <br />in gaining control of the lights. <br />Council discussed whether the City or the Fire Department should pay <br />the cost of this proposal. Mr. Fahey stated that the Fire Lepartment <br />should borrow the money for the proposal or budget the cost next year. <br />Councilman DeBace stated that the City could pay for the proposal. <br />Councilman Nadeau remarked that the City would have to pay the cost <br />eventually anyway. <br />hr.
