MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
SEPTEMBER 14, 2006
The City Planner noted that mosC of the buildings in Ryan Industrial Park
are on small lots, therefore, it is unlikely that they would have room for a
building expansion.
Duray asked the downside to the City in upgrading the building materials
in the I-1 District. The City Planner stated Chat because of increased
reconstruction costs, it might take longer before property owners would
tear down an existing metal building and reconstructing a new building.
Knudsen felt an issue was whether or not the City was competitive with
the surrounding area. Knudsen felt thaC most of the adjacent cities had
similar approaches on metal buildings. Therefore, he did not feel this
would be a competitive issue.
The consensus of the Commission was to upgrade the building materials
allowed in the I-] DistricC to those allowed in the I-P District. The City
Planner indicated that he draft an ordinance amendment for presentation to
the City Council.
DECEMBER Given the Council's changes in their December meeting schedule, it was
MEETING Che consensus of the Commission to move their meeting to either
December 6`h or 7`~'. The City Clerk will survey the Commissioners and
re-schedule the meeting accordingly.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:17 p.in.
Respectfully submitted,
h
Kathy Gla er
City Clerk
12
