SF. This is based on square footage per occupant as stated
in Table 33 -A of the 1985 Uniform Building Code. The size
of the Council Chambers as shown on our preliminary floor
plan is 1,930 SF which will accommodate seating for 150
people. The cost to add the additional 1,820 SF required in
order to accommodate 250 people would be approximately
$81,900 (1,820 SF x $45.00 per SF).
3. Full basement under addition: When considering a full
basement its use must be for storage only. If used for
offices or another public function an elevator will be
required. Also, the floor construction must be a one -hour
fire rated system. Because of the soil, an additional
stairway exit would be requested. With the possibility of
numerous underground springs on the site, we would recommend
a perimeter drain tile system. The additional cost for
providing a full basement under the entire addition would be
approximately $32,400 (2,160 SF x $15.00 per SF). It should
be noted that a basement will be provided under the new
restrooms and council conference room.
4. Attic storage over Council Chambers: To provide storage in
the attic over the Council Chambers the roof trusses must be
designed to accommodate the additional live loading of 125
lbs /SF as required in Table 23 -A of the Uniform Building
Code. Also, this area would be over 300 SF, requiring two
exits. These exits would be standard stairways, a pull -down
Page 20
