PLANNING
TRANSPORTATION
ENGINEERING
ARCHITECTURE
BENNETT. RINGROSE. WOLSFELD. JARVIS. GARDNER INC • THRESHER SQUARE • 700 THIRD STREET SOUTH • MINNEAPOLIS. MN 55415 • PHONE 6123700700
October 2, 1984
Mr. Joseph G. Chlebeck
Clerk Treasurer
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
RE: Lake Gervais Interceptor
County Road 8-2
Whitepath Construction
Dear Mr. Chlebeck:
We are in receipt of your letter regarding possible installation of a bikepath
in connection with the restoration of County Road B -2 between Edgerton Street
and Arcade Street. You have suggested that you would like to have this work
incorporated into the restoration which is done following the interceptor sewer
construction. It should be pointed out that the only segment of County Road B -2,
which will be disturbed by the installation of the interceptor, will extend from
approximately Green Briar Avenue west to the vicinity of Mr. Corcoran's house.
The balance of the street will not be disturbed by the construction, therefore,
there will be no restoration on those areas.
In response to your second question as to whether it may be possible for the
City to work with Ramsey County Public Works Department to accomplish the
installation of a bikepath on County Road B -2. It would be suggested that this
question be posed to the County. Should the County elect to go with a bikepath
in lieu of the current restoration, which we are currently planning in the
disturbed areas, that could most certainly be incorporated into the project on a
joint cost sharing agreement.
The current restoration section being called for on the portion of County Road
B -2, which will be disturbed, consists of an overall width of 36 feet. That is
made up of 24 feet of driving surface and 6 foot wide aggregate shoulders on
each side of the driving surface. I would see no reason why the City could not
pave the shoulders and create 6 foot pedestrian /bikeways on either side of the
driving surfaces if the County is in agreement with that approach.
RIVEIT/11
OCT 3 1984
••—Ct''''ITY ^O',F` LL
DAVID .1 BENNETT DONALD W.
