MINUTES
Planning Commission
June 14, 1884
Lee Rezoning
(Cont.)
Richards
Request
Palmen
Request
Mr. DeLonais did not feel the Commission should act on the request
if Mr. Lee does not appear at the meeting.
A Burke Lane resident stated that they like their area and feel it
is unique. It was commented that the balance between the commercial
and residential property is out -of -line.
Mr. Pat Conway pointed out that the Conduit people would just as
soon stay residential and would like the Lee property to remain
residential. Conway felt there should be no question about leaving
the property residential.
Mrs. Timmons pointed out the great impact the Lee rezoning request
could have on the Burke Lane neighborhood and stated that legally
the City would not have had to notify these people of the rezoning.
Timmons suggested that Council agendas be published so that people
know about things before they are acted upon.
Mr. Herkenhoff recommended that in view of the concerns of the
residents of the area and the absence of Larry Lee or his representative
that the area remain zoned R -1.
Motion seconded by Mr. French.
Motion carried 8 - 0.
Mrs. Zoch asked if the land across the street from her home could
he rezoned residential. Mr. Costa informed Mrs. Zoch that the property
owners would have to come in and request a rezoning. Costa suggested
that Mrs. Zoch could contact the Code Enforcement Officerabout getting
the property cleaned up. Costa felt that the property owner has
probably overstepped his bounds with the amount of cars that are
parked on the property.
Mr. Herkenhoff felt that the concerns of the Burke Lake residents are
very real.
The Planner reported that the Richard request is withdrawn as sufficient
information was not submitted.
The Planner reported that Mr. Palmen is not present. Palmen is a
landscaping contractor that is parking vehicles on his property and
various equipment. Also a garage has been moved on the property from
Maplewood.
Mr. Palmen is applying for a PUD to allow for this equipment. The
only other alternative is to remove the equipment. Mr. Palmen has
not yet made application for the PUD.
Page -4-
