6 -4 -84 - DRL <br />DRAFT - DRAFT - DRAFT <br />LETTER FOR RYAN INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />PROPERTY OWNERS <br />Dear <br />This letter is to advise you that we are becoming increasingly alarmed at the <br />blighted and deteriorating conditions which exist within the Ryan Industrial Park <br />area. To a significant degree, the problem is a product of a lack of simple house <br />keeping and general property maintenance which one would typically expect of an <br />owner and neighbor. In Little Canada, as in the majority of metropolitan communities, <br />an orderly exterior environment is, however, also a matter of zoning ordinance <br />regulation. <br />Specifically, any exterior storage of equipment or vehicles other than employee park- <br />ing and loading and unloading areas are to be screened and landscaped. Parking, <br />loading areas and driveways are to be hard surfaced with dust free materials and <br />curbed. Any area other than that occupied and specifically designated for buildings, <br />parking spaces and driveways is to be grass seeded or sodded and maintained. <br />Our visual inspection of the area suggests that a majority of properties are not <br />in compliance. Since commonly expected property upkeep is not being maintained, it <br />is our intent to pursue vigorous ordinance enforcement. On an initial basis, we <br />are asking you to voluntarily contact Mr. Ed Locke, the City's Building Official <br />by in order to arrange a meeting to determine what permits <br />if any must be processed and what other general improvements are required. Following <br />this basic determination, an individual improvement program, deadlines for completion <br />of work, and the formal processing of necessary applications are expected to be <br />submitted by property owners. <br />Should property owners fail to comply with this procedure, legal action as appropriate <br />will be pursued. You should be advised that ordinance violations are a misdemeanor <br />punishable by up to a $500 fine and /or jail term of up to 90 days. Each month during <br />which compliance is delayed constitutes a separate offense. <br />As leaders of the City we are proud of Little Canada and want it to be an attractive <br />and desirable community in which to live and work.
