MINUTES
Planning Commission
Jan. 12, 1984
Manufactured The Building Inspector had also indicated that the ordinance that was
Homes (Cont.) passed would create a lot of non — conforming uses in the City.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she did not understand what questions the
Building Inspector had. Mrs. Timmons stated that she would like
to see something in writing from Mr. Locke.
Mr. DeLonais asked why these things did not come up before the Commission
acted on the amendment.
Mrs. Timmons pointed out that the Commission's concerns were that the
City did not have substandard looking manufactured homes in the City.
The Commission liked the Blaine ordinance because it was restrictive
without being discriminatory.
The Planner stated that he did not know specifically what items the
Building Inspector was concerned about.
Mrs. Timmons stated that she was not willing to act on this without
any background information.
Mr. DeLonais asked if a single family home had to have a minimum width
of 24 feet. The Planner replied that under the Blaine ordinance this
is correct, but the City previously did not have a width requirement
for a single family home. Mr. Ducharme pointed out that the reason
for the width requirement was so that only a double —wide manufactured
home could be moved into a single family neighborhood.
Mr. French stated that the Building Inspector may have good reason
for being concerned about this ordinance, and suggested that Mr. Locke
outline these reasons to the Commission.
Mrs. Timmons suggested that Mr. Locke outline the differences between
the Blaine ordinance and the "Guidelines for Manufactured Housing
Installations" Pamphlet.
Mr. DeLonais recommended that the matter of the manufactured homes text
amendment he tabled until the Planning Commission has a full explanation
from the Building Inspector.
Motion seconded by Mr. Ducharme.
Motion carried 7 — 0.
Appointment Mr. DeLonais commented that he was happy to, see Mrs. Timmons reappointed
Of New Members for another term on the Planning Commission.
