903.110. SIGNS. <br />A. Purpose. This section is established to protect and promote health, safety, general :.elfare and order <br />within the City of Little Canada through the establishment of a comprehensive and impartial set of standards, <br />regulations and procedures governing the type, numbers, size, structure, location, height, lighting, <br />erection, use and /or disploy of devices, signs or symbols serving as a visual communication media to <br />persons situated within or upon public rights -of -way or properties. The provisions of this subdivision <br />are intended to encourage opportunity for effective, orderly communication by reducing confusion and <br />hazards resulting from unnecessary and /or indiscriminate use of communication facilities. <br />B. Permitted end Prohibited Signs. <br />1. Permitted Signs. The following signs are allowed without a permit, but shall comply with all other <br />applicable provisions of this Ordinance: <br />a. Public Signs. <br />b. Identification Signs. There may be one per premise, not to exceed two (2) squore feet in <br />area. If the sign is freestanding, the total height may not exceed five (5) feet. <br />c. Integral Signs. <br />d. Political Campaign Signs. Shall not exceed four (4) square feet in all Residential Districts, <br />or twelve 02) square feet in all other zoning districts. Every campaign sign must contain <br />the name and address of persons responsible for such sign, and that person shall be responsible <br />far its removal. Signs erected before the primary election shall remain in place for m large <br />than five (5) cloys after the general or special election for which they are intended. The City <br />shall have the right to remove and destroy unsightly signs or remove signs after the five i51 <br />day limit and assess a fee of one (51.00) dollar per sign, <br />e. Holiday Signs. Displayed for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days. <br />f. Construction Signs. Such signs shall be confined to the site of the construction, alteration, <br />or repair, and shall be removed within two (2) years of the date of issuance of the first build- <br />ing permit or when the particular project is completed, whichever is sooner as determined by <br />the City Building Official or his agent. One sign shall be permitted for each major street the <br />project abuts. No sign may exceed fifty (50) square feet. <br />g. Real Estate Sale or Rental Signs. Signs must be removed within Fourteen (14) days after sale, or <br />rental of property. Signs may not measure more than four (4) square feet in Residential <br />Districts, nor more than twenty (20) squore feet in all other districts. There shall be only <br />one (1) sign per premises. Corner properties, however, may contain two (2) signs, one fl) <br />per frontnge. <br />h. Informutionol /Directional Signs. Shull not be larger than ten (10) square feet and shall con- <br />form to the location provisions of the specific district. <br />2. Prohibited Signs. The following signs are specifically prohibited by this Ordinance: <br />a. Any sign which obstructs the vision of drivers or pedestrians, or detracts from the visibility <br />of any official traffic control device. <br />b. Any sign which contains or initiates an official traffic sign or signal, except for private, <br />on- premise directional signs. <br />c . Any sign which moves or rotates.
