MINUTES
Park Commission
February 16, 1984
Elaine Zoch made a motion to recommend that the City Council direct
the City Engineer to stake the property corners at a future date to
be decided by the Park Commission for their viewing when the snow
melts.
Bill Sanders seconded.
Motion passed.
Bev Scalze will contact the Engineer and the Park Commission will
designate the date the stakes are desired for their meeting.
There was some discussion as to what to name the park. Consensus was
to use the Nadeau name in the title since the property had been
donated by Roy Nadeau.
Bev Scalze reported that the City was considering vacating a portion
of Lake Street between Park Street and Rice Street, and the Park
Commission was being notified in accordance with their request to be
consulted about future street vacation plans. Discussion followed
regarding the fact that no other trails could connect with this area.
Bev mentioned that there was also some desire on the part of the
Council to put some of the commercial property back on the tax roll.
Jim Morelan moved to recommend to the City Council that there is
no projected use of Lake Street from Ruth Street to Rice Street for
park or trail purposes.
Carl Spooner seconded.
Motion passed.
Next month, the Park Commission will discuss details to be incorporated
into the Gervais Mill park site and also for trails across the Nadeau
and Fairbanks property. Jim Morelan will discuss with Don Gagne,
the plans regarding the placement of the monument proposed to be
erected by the Historical Society.
Jim Morelan made a motion to direct Bill Sanders to sketch the designs
and specifications for bids on the proposed trails between the school
property and Noel Drive.
Elaine Zoch seconded.
Motion passed.
The next meeting will be held on March 15, 1984.
Submitted by Bev Scalze
for Secretary Lois Runyon„
B5:gb
74
