Recommended Complete Count Committee Activ- <br />ities <br />These are just a few examples of the many <br />supportive outreach and publicity activities which <br />the committee could undertake to best comple- <br />ment the national promotion effort. Of course, <br />committees are encouraged to include their own <br />ideas. To implement many of these activities <br />successfully, the committee will need a local <br />source of funding or donated materials and ser- <br />vices. Obtaining these types of commitments for <br />funds, materials, and services should be a first <br />priority of the committee and its members. <br />(a) Precensus Activities Now - 03/22/90 <br />Media <br />• Arrange media conference announcing <br />formation of a Complete Count Commit- <br />tee. <br />• Organize a preview of public service announce- <br />ments distributed by the Ad Council and <br />Census Bureau for local radio, television, <br />cable television, and newspaper manag- <br />ers and encourage their use in prime time <br />by local outlets (January 1990). <br />• Develop, produce, and distribute public <br />service announcements using influential <br />and popular local personalities. <br />• Have a ceremonial kick -off (March 21 or <br />22, 1990) to publicize the mailout of ques- <br />tionnaires. <br />• Call periodic press conferences for the <br />highest - elected official or other influential <br />community leaders to talk about the impor- <br />1 7 tance of the census.
