O'Connor <br />"Rooms or spaces used for the storage, processing, or use of the materials specified in <br />this section shall be protected in accordance with the following: <br />(a) Rooms or spaces used for the storage of combustible supplies in quantities deemed haz- <br />ardous by the authority having jurisdiction, hazardous materials in quantities deemed haz- <br />ardous by recognized standards, or fuel shall be separated from the remainder of the <br />building by construction having not less than a 1 -hour fire - resistive rating with all <br />openings protected by self - closing or smoke- actuated fire doors, or such rooms or spaces <br />may be protected by an automatic extinguishing system as set forth in Section 6 -4. <br />(b) Rooms or spaces used for processing or use of combustible supplies in quantities con- <br />sidered hazardous by the authority having jurisdiction, hazardous materials, or for flam- <br />mable or combustible liquids in quantities deemed hazardous by recognized standards shall <br />be separated from the remainder of the building by construction having not less than a <br />1 -hour fire - resistive rating with all openings protected by self - closing or smoke - actuated <br />fire doors and shall also be protected by an automatic extinguishing system as set forth <br />in Section 6 -4." <br />3. Within 90 days, remove and fill louvre areas above kitchen doors with approved material of <br />a fire rating not less than 1 hour F.R. rating, pursuant to: <br />Minn. Stat. Sec. 299F.011 (1974). <br />Minnesota Rules 1983, Sec. 7510.0400 <br />Minnesota Uniform Fire Code (MUFC) Sec. 2.303, as amended by <br />Minnesota Rules 1983, Sec. 7510.1200, Subpart 9, <br />NFPA_Mo. 101, Sec. 11- 3.6.1, which states: <br />"Every interior corridor shall be of construction having not less than a 1 -hour fire re- <br />sistance rating, and all openings protected with doors, frames and hardware, including <br />closers, that shall all have a fire protection rating of at least 20 minutes. <br />Exception No. 1: Such corridor protection shall not be required when all classrooms <br />served by such corridors have at least one door directly to the outside or to an exterior <br />balcony or corridor as in 11- 2.5.4. <br />Exception No. 2: The corridor protection may be reduced to a 1/2 hour fire resistance <br />rating providing the building is protected throughout by an approved automatic sprinkler <br />system. <br />Exception No. 3: Existing doors may be 1 3/4 in (4.45 -cm) solid bonded wood core doors or <br />the equivalent." <br />Page 11 <br />FACILITY <br />P5 06017 -04 (11/51) <br />Page 2 <br />
