MINUTES
Planning Commission
January 12, 1989
easy access pointing out that if Cellular One ever abandons the building,
it will become the property of the City.
Carroway stated that Cellular One has no preference whether the building
is located behind or in front of the water tower.
DeLonais stated that he preferred the building to he located behind the
tower.
Schweizer agreed.
Carroway described the construction of the building, which would be
concrete with a flat roof.
Carroway reported that Cellular One would pay the City $600 per month
rent for the use of the water tower.
Carroway also reported that if the building is located behind the water
tower, there would be a drive constructed to the building. The area
around the drive would be bermed up so that the drive is screened from
view.
DeLonais asked the size of the antennas.
Carroway estimated the antenna size at 2.2 feet by 32 feet. There would be
six antennas mounted on the tower. The antennas are see - through, and
therefore, would not be very visible. The microwave dish which would be
mounted under the bulb of the tower would be painted to match the tower.
The dish is approximately 6 feet by 10 feet. It appears that one dish
will be needed, but there is the possibility of two.
Schweizer pointed out the letter received from Ramsey County Emergency
Services.
Carroway replied that Cellular One provides services for the County.
Bendel asked about the lease that Cellular One would enter into with the
City.
Carroway replied that the lease would be a 5 -year lease with 5 5 -year
renewal options.
Carroway also reported that the antennas and dish would not interfere
with existing TV, radio or emergency services reception.
Costa asked if there was anyone from the general public wishing to
comment.
Bob DeBace felt the $600 per month rent was low. DeBace pointed out
the alternative would be for Cellular One to purchase land and construct
a tower.
Page -7-
