MINUTES
Planning Commission
January 12, 1989
DeLonais recommended that the B -3 zoning of the Weber property on Rice
Street remain and declares that the property as legally described is a
fully developable lot under B -3 zoning, the width of the property not
withstanding.
Motion seconded by Schweizer.
Motion carried 7 - 0.
McNamara Mr. Richard McNamara, owner of the parcel on the northeast corner of
Property Little Canada Road and Centerville Road, reported that he has owned this
parcel for the past 20 years. McNamara pointed out that the City recently
denied approval for development of a convenience center on that parcel
due to concerns with the access proposed onto Centerville Road. McNamara
also reported that a few years ago he presented the City with a proposal
for development of an office building on this same parcel. However, the
City had requested that the Mondor property be included in the development
proposal, and due to financing difficulties, the developer withdrew from
the proposal.
Costa reported that the Commission has received a letter from Mr. and Mrs.
Mondor stating that they are in favor of rezoning this corner, including
their property, to PUD. The Mondor's have also indicated that they would
be willing to sell their parcel when the time comes.
McNamara reported that he has tried unsuccessfully to contact the Mondor's
about the purchase of their property, but cannot reach them.
Mr. DeBace suggested that the hest way to approach the Mondor's would be
through their daughter.
McNamara reported that he would like to purchase the Mondor property and
divide a piece of it off to sell to the Conoco developers to assist in
their development. McNamara thought that the remainder of the property
could be developed with a strip center or office building.
McNamare requested that the matter be tabled until he has had an
opportunity to contact the Mondor's daughter.
Herkenhoff recommended that the rezoning from B -3 to PUD for the northeast
corner of Little Canada Road and Centerville Road be tabled until the
next Commission meeting.
Motion seconded by DeLonais.
Motion carried 7 - 0.
Page -13-
