MINUTES
Nanning Commission
January 12, 1989
Text The City Planner presented the Commission with a proposed text amendment
Amendment to the Sign Ordinance which eliminates the requirement that all non -
Signs conforming signs shall be removed or brought into conformity with the
Ordinance within a certain amount of time. The Planner noted that this
portion of the Ordinance has never been enforced and is likely not to be.
Costa asked if the Gardner Bros. sign on Centerville Road was a legal sign.
The Planner replied that the sign appears to be legal under the City's
code.
Costa recommended approval of the proposed text amendment to the City's
Sign Ordinance deleting certain provisions regulating non - conforming signs.
Motion seconded by Davison.
Motion carried 7 - O.
Election
Of Officers
Mr. Herkenhoff recommended that Peter Costa be appointed as Chairman of
the Planning Commission and Gene DeLonais be appointed as Vice Chairman.
Motion seconded by Davison.
Motion carried 7 - 0.
I -1 The City Planner submitted to the Commission for their consideration
Performance revisions to the performance standards as contained in the I -1 District.
Standards The Planner reported that these suggested revisions came about after
discussions with Frank Frattalone. The Planner requested that the Commission
review these provisions and be prepared to discuss them at their next
meeting.
DeLonais asked the City's intentions for cleaning up Ryan Industrial park.
The Planner felt that once a clear set of standards are established,
the Building Inspector would be able to review properties and determine
whether or not they are in conformance. The Planner pointed out that
at the present time the City is attempting to get various properties into
compliance when they submit redevelopment plans. However, businesses'
business licenses cannot be used to enforce conformity.
Costa suggested that the businesses not in conformance with the Codes be
fined.
The Planner replied that there are procedures that the City must follow.
The City must first warn the business owner, and if there are no results,
the Sheriff Department is notified to issue a citation.
Page -14-
