A tabulation of the bids received is attached. The lump sum bid (base bid) includes all site grading and excavation, sanitary sewer connection, water connection, seeding and sodding. The add alternates include the following work: Add Alternate No. 1 - Includes all underground drainage pipe for the softball fields, soccer fields and tennis courts. This work is required to improve the drainage conditions due to clay soil. Add Alternate No. 2 - Includes all gravel base fills for parking lots; trails, tennis courts and basketball court. Add Alternate No 3 - Includes all ag -line infield areas for the softball fields. The apparent low bidder, Imperial Developers, Inc., have requested that their bid be withdrawn because of a mathematical error in figuring the hid. A letter explaining their error is attached. I recommend that they be allowed to withdraw their hid without forfeiture of the bid bond. The second low bidder, Forest Lake Contracting, Inc., has verified that their hid is accurate. I have checked the references for Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. and they have been very good. Their experience includes several parks and ballfield projects. Therefore, I recommend that the bid for Site Grading at Centerville Road Park be awarded to Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. in the amount of their total bid, $282,377.89 which includes the lump sum bid and all add alternates.
