Mr. McGinnis indicated
Television that there would be quite alot of property left.
Tower
(cont.) Mr. Herkenhoff asked if KVBM Television would be buying the
property or leasing it. Mr. Peters indicated that they
would just be leasing the ground space from the City.
Mr. Herkenhoff asked if the City could do anything they
wanted underneath the tower. Mr. McGinnis stated that the
ground underneath the tower could be used for whatever the
City wishes.
Mr. Davison asked how much power the station would have.
Mr. Peters stated that they would basically have the same
amount of power as Channels 4, 5, 9, or 11. They broadcast
with 316,000 watts, but because they are lower on the dial,
KVBM needs more power to do the same thing. Mr. Pedersen
asked if the power needed would be comparable to Channels 23
and 29. Mr. Peters indicated that it would.
Mr. Pedersen asked if there were other towers where KVBM
could put their transmitter. Mr. Peters stated that they
have been unable to secure a spot where they could get
comparable coverage with their competition.
Mr. Pedersen asked how many transmitters the tower could
support. Mr. McGinnis stated that it could hold several
transmitters depending on the size of them.
Mr. Davison asked what would happen to the tower if Channel
45 went off the air. Mr. Chlebeck indicated that the
station would have to submit a bond to the City in the event
the tower would have to betaken down.
Mr. Costa asked how the City gets reimbursed for the tower.
Mr. Dan Rieder of KVBM Television indicated that there would
be a substantial user fee that would be submitted directly
to the City.
Mr. Herkenhoff asked specifically what the advantages would
be building the tower in the City. Mr. McGinnis believed
that the structure would be attractive and there would be
alot of people interested in the tower. Mr. McGinnis felt
that it would be a landmark that would be unique to the
City.
Mr. McGinnis indicated that only 1.03% of the land would be
used for the tower. Mr. Bendel stated that the City of
Little Canada is relatively small and a structure such as
the one proposed would appear to be in everyone's backyards.
Page 9
