SUMMARY
Little Canada's Sign Ordinance, as it applies to motor fuel
stations near freeway interchanges, allows the least amount of
height of its immediate neighboring communities, although the
Ordinance has a setback provision which places it comparable to
those Cities. Although some of these communities may allow much
larger signs than Little Canada's maximum, this data is not
typically applicable to specific situations since communities
restrict sign size by so many different factors. If the City is
looking to increase the sign size in areas with freeway exposure,
we would recommend use of an overlay district for freeway sign
application which keeps the base land use restrictions in place,
but relaxes sign controls.
cc: Joe Chlebeck
Tom Sweeney
John Palacio
Pat Wilcox
Page 14
