This technical and grant assistance program
is administered by the DNR, Division of Waters. At this time, we
are accepting applications for the grant portion of this program.
Enclosed is a set of instructions, an application form for a Flood
Hazard Mitigation Grant, and an informational sheet about the grant
program. This program is intended to financially assist in the
reduction of flood damage in your community. Examples of projects
that may qualify for funding are: structure relocation,
floodproofing existing structures, hydraulic or hydrologic studies
to map or remap floodplains, signing of floodplain areas,
information /education efforts and limited structural projects.
Please take time to develop your list of flood damage reduction
projects. We hope to identify many worthwhile projects and feel
that they will help ensure continued funding of this grant program
by the Legislature. In order to be considered for the presently
available funding, applications must be submitted by September 30,
1989.
It is our hope that this program will help provide a permanent
solution to many of our persistent flooding problems. If you have
questions or would like to arrange a meeting to discuss possible
projects, feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
<A\\ Shy.
Molly Shoileen
Area Hydrologist
Enclosures
T240:kap
PAGE -6-
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
