MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
September 14, 1989
Hartman asked what the setback off of Desoto would be.
The Planner replied that the minimum setback in the I -P
District is 40 feet.
At this point the Commission put together a list of
items that they feel must be addressed as part of this
proposal. They are:
Screening of the loading dock area from both
Centerville Road and Desoto;
Improved landscaping for the new addition;
Removal of cement that was recently dumped at
the site;
Removal of dumpster;
Removal of storage shed;
Very professional job of screening of the semi -truck
storage area;
Improve the existing fence area in the back
which prevents people from driving in the back;
Clean up debris on the site;
Show on -site area for additional future parking;
All recommendations of the City Planner as contained
in•his reports dated August 2, 1989 and September 14,
1989.
Kaufman reported that the storage building is used for
storing fuel.
The City Planner pointed out that the building is not
allowable in the I -P District and no building permit
was ever taken out for it. Also, a building to be used
for storage of fuel should be a block building, and
meet certain building codes.
Costa pointed out that the site is very visible from
the freeway and should have a campus -type setting.
Costa again stated that truck docks should be screened.
The Commission discussed the issue of grinding of the
concrete at the site, with Yorkton being unable to tell
the Commission when the grinding will occur.
Hartman stated that he did not feel Slumberland should
be allowed to grind the concrete at the site again
citing the noise and dust that will occur.
Roger Stanke stated that he did not believe it cost
effective to bring in grinding equipment for the small
amount of concrete that is at the site.
Page 7
