MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />October 12, 1989 <br />Planner and subject to Council review of the assessment <br />issue. <br />Motion seconded by DeLonais. <br />Motion carried 5 - 0. <br />ARCILLA Mr. Ely Arcilla appeared before the Commission <br />VARIANCE requesting a rear yard setback variance in order to <br />construct a home at 641 Keller Parkway with a 10 foot <br />rear yard setback. <br />The City Planner reported that the actual setback of <br />the closest point of the home would be 16 feet from the <br />rear property line. The deck proposed is an acceptable <br />encroachment in the required rear yard. <br />The Planner pointed out that the rear yard of the lot <br />abutts the side yard of Lot 10. The required side yard <br />setback is 10 feet. <br />Costa asked the size of the home proposed by Mr. <br />Arcilla. <br />Arcilla replied that the home would be 3,000 square <br />feet in size. <br />Mr. Al Graf, owner of Lot 10, stated that he opposed <br />the variance request and felt that if the ordinance <br />requires a 30 foot rear yard setback, that is what the <br />setback should be. Graf passed out a diagram showing <br />the area and the location of his home. <br />Mr. Lepsche, Lakeside Court, stated that he opposed the <br />variance as well. <br />Drabik pointed out that the Arcilla home would not be <br />adjacent to the Graf home, but rather adjacent to the <br />rear portion of the Graf backyard. <br />Mr. Dean Hedlund, property owner in the area, stated <br />that the problem is that the house is too large for the <br />lot. Hedlund stated that Mr. Arcilla chose a house <br />plan that does not fit his lot and he is not asking his <br />neighbors to accept a variance. <br />Arcilla reported that he is proposing to construct a <br />Page 7 <br />
